Update
Hello again. Sorry for neglecting the weblog for the past few days. Believe it or not, I have not yet gotten over the jet-lag and still fall asleep in the afternoon and get-up in the middle of the night.
Other than that, I have been trying to give myself a crach course in Indo-European linguistics, since I realised I don't know many basic things of phonology and morphology. In this quest, I have found out many interesting things which I will write about later.
Meanwhile, how many words can you count in English that have been borrowed from Old Norse?

Hi Khodadad,
You have been posting more often than me, so you have not exactly been neglectful! :)
Hmmm, Old Norse. How about Thor, Oden, Valhalla, berserkers, or valkyries? Well, I guess these are not exactly in common usage. :) Most people have heard of Vikings, though.

David, how about "get" and "egg"? There are much more common words than those you mentioned which come from Old Norse!
Thanks for the visit pal...
