Whatever

This weblog and its owner/operator/author (and all other nouns with the agent suffix) suffer/enjoy a persistant state of ignorant bliss. The author also seems to have reached the nirvana like level of hardened indifference and nothing, almost nothing, seems to shake or excite him.

This is not meant as a complaint, rather a status report, in case anyone is interested.

Hooray for soullessness... (a beautiful word methinks. Three sets of geminates, what else do you want?)

Elections

Well, the long-awaited US midterm elections have come and are almost gone. Many people on campus were very happy about the results and some of my colleagues whom I had never seen being very opinionated on political issues were constantly talking about the results. It seems as if the resignation (or firing) of Donald Rumsfeld was a greater issue of debate than all the election results.

What struck me, coming from a skeptical culture which barely considers any change to be genuine, was how optimistic everyone on the left is. Most of your average Democratic supporters appear to be thiniking that they have won, that the course of the Neo-Conservative take over of the government has stopped and these wins mean that things will dramatically change. However, the Republican supporters also seem to know better and just shook their heads knowingly and smiled. I should find a Green supporter....
